IWSA WEEKLY UPDATER
October 26, 2007
Covanta’s Honolulu Resource Recovery facility (H-Power) was accepted into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Performance Track program. H-Power was one of 55 new facilities accepted into the program, bringing the total number of participants up to nearly 500 nationally since the program’s inception in 2000. H-Power has committed to reducing dioxin/furan emissions by 15 percent and total suspended solids in water discharges by 30 percent. Performance Track facilities must have internal systems in place to manage their environmental impacts, have strong compliance records, engage in local outreach about their performance, and publicly report results.
